High-performance construction goes beyond code compliance. This is the standard we build to. Superior wall assemblies with exterior rigid insulation eliminate thermal bridging including a superior exterior airtight envelope. Our previous 2-year average 0.48 air changes per hour (ACH) surpassed industry benchmarks delivering a home that's quieter, more comfortable, and dramatically more energy-efficient.

NET ZERO HOMES
A Net Zero home produces as much energy as it consumes over the course of a year. Clay Construction is a CHBA-qualified Net Zero and Net Zero-Ready builder.
A home is made up of many systems, and every system affects the others. Envelope, HVAC, ventilation, and renewable energy don't operate in isolation. When building science and construction experience aren't applied to how these systems work together, the consequences show up where you least expect them: mould, condensation, equipment that underperforms, a home that never quite feels comfortable, and mechanical systems that wear out years too soon.
We design and build each system with the others in mind, so everything works together from day one, and keeps working for decades.
PASSIVE HOUSE
Passive House is the most rigorous energy standard in residential construction. It requires exceptional airtightness, triple-glazed windows, continuous insulation, and a heat recovery ventilation system that provides fresh, filtered air year-round without opening a window or relying heavily on active heating.

Step 1 — Consultation & Discovery
We meet to understand your vision, your site, your budget, and your timeline. No pressure. No obligation. Just a genuine conversation about what's possible.
Step 2 — Pre-Construction, Design & Estimate
We work through the design phase with you, bringing construction knowledge into the conversation early. Integrated design results is a detailed, itemized estimate built around your finishes, your features, and every foreseeable cost.
Step 3 — Approvals, Budget & Contract
Once you approve the estimate, we establish the formal budget and execute contracts. Everything is documented and uploaded to your client portal.
Step 4 — Permitting & Pre-Construction
Our team handles the zoning, permit applications, and (structural, geotechnical, building envelope, etc) engineering so that by the time groundbreaking arrives, every detail is in order.


Step 5 — Construction & Reporting
Construction begins. You receive bi-weekly invoices and balance reports. Daily logs and site photography are uploaded to your portal in real time. Hundreds of photos document every wall cavity before insulation goes in. You always know exactly where your project stands.
Step 6 — Final Walkthrough & Handover
We conduct a detailed room-by-room orientation before you move in. Deficiencies are addressed promptly (though there are rarely any). You receive your custom Homeowner's Manual complete with photos, warranties, product documentation, and everything you need to know about your home.
Step 7 — Ongoing Warranty Support
Your Clay home comes with full Travelers' 2/5/10 Home Warranty coverage: 2-year on mechanical systems, 5-year on building envelope, 10-year on structure. We stay in touch because our relationship doesn't end on move-in day.
